CCDBA teams practice in beautiful Morro Bay, California. Founded by a group of cancer survivors, our nonprofit has grown to include three different teams: a diverse community of all ages, all genders, all walks of life. Paddlers on all three teams train to compete in regional, national and international competitions (competing is not required for SurviveOars team paddlers). New paddlers and guests are welcome; click on OUR TEAMS and PADDLE WITH US to find the team for you!

Attention cancer survivors! In addition to regular training practices, the SurviveOars team offers a monthly Buoy Up paddle for cancer survivors, focused on support and sharing. No matter where you are in your cancer journey, you are invited to join the Buoy Up boat as a guest. Click on the SurviveOars team page for more info.

WHAT IS DRAGON BOAT RACING?

​

Dragon boat racing is an international sport that originated in China more than 2000 years ago. A dragon boat team consists of up to 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steers-person. The sport emphasizes timing and teamwork. It’s not about how strong you are; it’s about how strong WE ARE TOGETHER.

WHAT IS CCDBA?

Central Coast Dragon Boat Association (CCDBA) is a public benefit nonprofit corporation under IRC 501(c)(3), located in Morro Bay, CA. Our dual mission is to build a community of dragon boat teams for all levels of competition, AND to empower and support cancer survivors in the sport. If you support our mission, paddle with us! WE NEED LOCAL VOLUNTEERS TO TRAIN AS STEERSPERSONS!!

Do you like to be outdoors and live near Morro Bay? Are you willing to learn a new skill, and have fun for an hour a week on a dragon boat? WE NEED YOU!!
